Inspired by Our NICU Journey
Our personal experience in the NICU sparked a mission to support families facing similar challenges in Henderson and Las Vegas.
From Experience to Purpose: Why We Founded NICU Tiny Tigers Foundation.
NICU Tiny Tigers was founded by Matthew Harris and Breanna Larrazolo after their daughter’s unexpected stay in the NICU. The day after she came home from the hospital, her pediatrician advised they take her back to the ER immediately. That night, she was admitted into the NICU. Doctors cautioned that her condition was questionable, and surgical intervention might soon be necessary as tests were urgently underway.
For nine long days, there were more questions than answers. Fortunately, their daughter made a full recovery and is home healthy. They did get a feel of the daily routine. Being present each day while life continued outside. That experience revealed how emotionally and financially challenging the NICU journey can be and inspired them to build a foundation to support families through those critical days.
Their first goal was a way for the nurses and social workers to offer meals to the people that visit the NICU babies.
Milestones on Our Journey
NICU Tiny Tigers Foundation is a licensed nonprofit in Nevada. Our next step is to meet the requirements of being registered as a 501(c)(3) with the IRS so all donations can be tax deductible. We are working with our first hospital to st up the structure to enable us to convert donations to meals. We cannot wait to announce our first partnership once its fully set up.
